The Offer Playbook
Sharpen your offer and positioning so the right people say yes — and price stops being the sticking point.
Why the offer is the first thing we fix.
A lot of service businesses think they’ve got a lead problem or a sales problem. Look closer and it’s usually the offer underneath both.
When the offer is sharp, everything downstream gets easier. Leads get cheaper because the message lands. Sales calls get shorter because the value is obvious. Delivery gets smoother because you attracted the right people in the first place. That’s why Build is the first step of the Ascend method, and the offer is the first thing we sort inside it.
This playbook is for coaches, consultants, service businesses and e-commerce owners who are good at what they do and want to scale to $100k months and beyond. Read it once, then fill in the worksheet near the end. If nothing changes in your offer after reading this, I haven’t done my job.
How to make an offer an easy yes.
An offer is a promise of a result, plus everything that makes that promise believable and easy to act on. There are five levers you can pull. Get them right and the same service — same price — becomes something people feel a little silly saying no to.
Dream outcome
The result they actually want, described in their words. The after, not your process or your features. Get specific.
Proof it’ll work for them
Why they’ll believe it works for someone like them. The strongest proof is specific and from their world.
Speed to result
How quickly they feel progress. Build an early win into the first weeks so momentum starts before doubt creeps in — and say the timeframe out loud.
Ease
How little effort and sacrifice it takes them. Every step you take off their plate raises the value of the offer. Spell out exactly how little they have to do — set-up handled for them, done-for-you builds, templates ready to go, you run it and they approve.
Risk
What you remove so saying yes feels safe. Carry more of the risk and more people step forward.
Raise the first four, lower the last three, and you’ve made the offer more valuable without touching the price.
Aim the offer at one person.
The fastest way to weaken an offer is to point it at everyone.
Narrow who it’s for and three things happen at once: your message gets sharper, your proof gets more relevant, and your price goes up because you’re now the specialist for that person. Pick the one type of client you get the best results for, and write the offer to them. Here’s the same idea across five niches Ascend works with:
Say it plainly on the offer itself: who it’s for, and who it’s not for. Turning the wrong people away is part of what makes the right people lean in.
Give it a name and a shape.
Once the substance is right, package it so it’s easy to understand and easy to value. A name that says what it does does half the selling. Here are the five niche offers above, named:
List exactly what’s included and tie each inclusion back to the dream outcome. Anchor the value — what this is worth, or what the problem is costing them now — before you ever say the price. How you price and structure it is covered in the Pricing & Packaging Guide.
